Cadillac SLS

The new SLS is the next generation of Cadillac SLS luxury business sedan that was first introduced in China in 2006. It combines the American luxury brand's traditional elegance with cutting-edge technologies and is specifically tailored for business elites. It is the first model from Shanghai GM equipped with OnStar.

The new Cadillac SLS comes in four variants that are priced between RMB 448,000 and RMB 698,000.

Choice of Fuel-Efficient SIDI Engines

The new Cadillac SLS comes with a choice of two new world-class Direct Injection engines mated to a six-speed automatic-manual transmission. The 3.0-liter SIDI engine offers 272 horsepower with 300 Nm of torque, while the 3.6-liter SIDI engine generates maximum power of 310 horsepower and 374 Nm of torque. In addition to providing impressive power, the engines reduce fuel consumption by 9 percent and generate lower hydrocarbon emissions compared to similar powerplants.

OnStar Safety, Security and Information Service

The new SLS features GM's OnStar in-vehicle safety, security and information service, which goes live in China in early December. With the press of a button, Cadillac SLS owners will instantaneously become connected with the OnStar Call Center for service 24 hours per day/365 days per year.

OnStar will initially offer 14 services: Automatic Crash Response, Emergency Services, Automatic Air Bag Deployment Response, OnStar Vehicle Diagnostics, On-Demand Diagnostics, Good Samaritan, Stolen Vehicle Location, Remote Door Unlock, Remote Horn and Lights, Roadside Assistance, Hands-Free Calling, Point of Interest, Turn-by-Turn Navigation and Destination Download.

Lotus Elan Concept

As the old saying goes, you can't have your cake and eat it. In the past we were educated to believe we can't have it all. But that was the past. Today's driver demands more and the Lotus Elan delivers.
The Lotus Elan is the beating heart of the new Lotus line-up. It's a high performance sports car, that much is clear, it's a Lotus after all, but thanks to some clever innovations the Lotus Elan also has everyday usability too.

With a 2+2 variant, the Lotus Elan should be the only car you need.

Set for release during the second half of 2013, the Lotus Elan features a 4.0 litre V6 pressure charged engine capable of delivering up to 450 PS and taking into consideration its relative light weight of 1,295kg, the Lotus Elan's performance edges on supercar.

From a styling perspective, the Lotus Elan is built like an athlete with a muscular physique and perfect poise. It's a thoroughbred, rigid with tension, ambitious and addictive, nothing but best in class will suffice for this car.

It's not enough to simply provide performance and exceptional looks, innovation is also integral to the Lotus Elan's appeal. In keeping with the rest of the new Lotus range, the Elan features optional hybrid technology with KERS.

Dany Bahar, Chief Executive Officer of Group Lotus, said: "If there was ever a car to make you drive the long way home, it's the Lotus Elan. Perfect for both road and track, the Lotus Elan not only ticks all the boxes, it creates new ones too."

"The Elan will convert people to Lotus, I would challenge people not to become addicted to driving it. It will also go a long way towards dispelling the old misconceptions about this class, that in order to have high performance you must sacrifice usability - those days are gone."

"Once you drive an Elan you won't look back, it will give you things you didn't even realise you were missing - that's the essence of Lotus and the Elan perfectly captures that spirit."

One car, zero compromise.

Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon

the new Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon is an unmistakable and dynamic presence. The car's intricately cut rear profile injects fashion-forward design into the formerly utilitarian world of wagons. Cadillac's upcoming wagon offers ample interior space and includes a range of six-cylinder engine choices, making it a compelling alternative to larger utility vehicles. Based on the hot-selling Cadillac CTS sport sedan, and a sister vehicle to the Cadillac CTS Coupe Concept, the Sport Wagon extends the design-driven renaissance of Cadillac. Following this special premiere at Pebble Beach, the Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon moves to the worldwide auto show circuit this fall - and into Cadillac dealerships in spring 2009.

A striking profile is created with the Cadillac CTS wagon, with a silhouette that suggests speed and aerodynamic efficiency. It rides on the same 113.4-inch (2,880-mm) wheelbase as the Cadillac CTS sport sedan and is 0.3-inch (7 mm) shorter. However, it offers a generous cargo area of 25 cubic feet (720 liters) behind the rear seats. Design highlights include:

Cadillac Aera Concept

The Cadillac Aera Concept won the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show Design Challenge, tying with Smart and besting entries from seven other automakers including Mercedes-Benz, Honda, Nissan, Toyota and Maybach. GM Advanced Design has now won the honor more times than any other design team; this is its third victory since 2005. This is the seventh year for the contest, and this year designers were asked to envision the "1,000 lb. car" and tasked to imagine an efficient four-passenger vehicle that maintained comfort, safety, driving performance and style while not exceeding the weight requirement.

"The Cadillac Aera concept was designed to continue the forward-thinking imagination of Cadillac's 'art and science' philosophy," explains Jussi Timonen, lead designer for the project. "It's designed as a small city urban vehicle, but we approached this 2+2 touring coupe very much from the brand's luxury perspective. Every detail of the Aera was conceived to minimize the vehicle's environmental impact without sacrificing the style, comfort and attention to detail that are hallmarks of the Cadillac brand."

The Cadillac Aera Concept is powered by compressed air via a highly efficient Pneumatic Drive System that has a 10,000-psi composite air storage tank with capacity for a 1,000-mile range. Flexible, pressurized air cells in the exterior skin, similar to material developed for the NASA Mars Rover airbags, enhance passive safety and interior comfort. The flexible polymer skin optimizes aerodynamics and functions as an ultra-lightweight alternative to conventional body panels and glass.

Cadillac Aera's body utilizes a 3D lattice, mono-formed frame that was designed to be similar to configurations found consistently in nature. The structure is formed from unique, alloy-utilizing, semi-solid freeform manufacturing, creating a naturally strong, extremely lightweight frame. All major body parts, including interior components, are essentially "grown" into a single part lattice structure.

The interior is crafted with an ultra-light recyclable polymer that allows for HVAC channels, fully adjustable seating, storage and comfort features all in one mono-form structure. Generous storage space accommodates luggage for two people.

Additional technologies include an all-in-one wheel system that combines rotary actuator propulsion, steering and suspension functions. A drive-by-wire system decreases the mass of electrical components, while vehicle-to-vehicle communication promotes active safety.

The concept was conceived in GM's North Hollywood Advanced Design Studio by Frank Saucedo, director; Phil Tanioka, vehicle designer; Brent Wickham, concept strategist; Shawn Moghadam, layout designer and Timonen, the project manager. Earlier this week, GM commemorated 10 years of advanced design at the L.A. area studio.

The Design Challenge is part of the Design Los Angeles automobile designers' conference and has evolved into an integral element of the Los Angeles Auto Show. Design Los Angeles connects those working in the design industry with well-known automotive design industry leaders. Los Angeles is home to the world's largest concentration of manufacturer design studios, representing automakers from North America, Europe and Asia. It is also the home of Art Center College of Design, one of the world's foremost transportation design institutions where many of today's leading automotive designers began their careers.

Honda Crossroad

Honda Motor Co., Ltd. announced the release of the new Crossroad, an automobile which transcends existing categories by combining the design and functionality of an SUV with the convenient size of a compact car and the 3-row seating and 7-passenger capacity of a minivan. The new Crossroad will go on sale throughout Japan on Friday, February 23.

The Crossroad was designed as an "active life navigator"-a car that helps people enjoy their active new lifestyles, unbound by conventional thinking.

The square motif of the exterior design conveys a feeling of solid presence and strength, while areas around the center pillars and windows are deeply beveled to achieve a sturdy, robust look.

The interior design features sculpted molding around the instrument panel to achieve a fun, confident feel. The square motif is continued throughout the interior, creating a refined, urban tone.

With its innovative packaging, the Crossroad offers a confident presence and versatile 3-row seating, yet is a breeze to handle around town thanks to an overall length of just 4,285mm. And the distinctive angular design around the front headlights gives the Crossroad an effective minimum turning radius1 at the top of its class2.

The Crossroad comes equipped with either a 1.8-liter or a 2.0-liter i-VTEC engine that combines responsive low-to-mid-speed driving performance with outstanding fuel economy. The engine is paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission to deliver nimble performance. The 4-wheel-drive model is also equipped with Hill-Start Assist function, which temporarily maintains brake pressure after the brake pedal is released when starting on a hill to ensure smoother starts and enhanced ease of use.

Packaging

The refreshing, smart packaging creates a versatile space inside a convenient body size.

Versatile 3-row seating offers plenty of convenience yet the overall length of 4,285mm makes it a breeze to handle around town.

The Crossroad's effective minimum turning radius of 5.6 meters3 puts it at the top of its class4.

The rear doors feature a wide opening angle of around 80ï, making it easier for passengers in the second- and third-row seats to get in and out.

The seating can be set in a variety of arrangements with easy operation. The second-row seats tilt and slide forward with the pull of a lever located on the shoulder of the second-row seatback, making it easier for passengers in the third-row seats to get in and out.

The Crossroad is equipped with an emergency puncture repair kit, replacing the spare tire and securing more space for third-row passengers while helping to make the vehicle lighter.

Advanced features and safety performance

The IHCC (Intelligent Highway Cruise Control)8 vehicle speed and distance control system helps reduce the burden on the driver during freeway driving.

The Collision Mitigation Brake System (CMBS)8 provides audio and visual warnings and braking to alert the driver and to help avoid a rear-end collision or mitigate damage and injuries in the event that one should occur.

Honda's Advanced Compatibility Engineering Body enhances passenger protection while mitigating impact on the other vehicle.

The vehicle is also designed to mitigate pedestrian injury in the event of a collision.

The rear frame features a large cross-section along with two internal impact-absorbing frames. The frames have a polygonal cross-section to enable them to effectively absorb the shock of a rear-end collision.

chevrolet orlando

Chevrolet Orlando is a car that is produced from the State of South Korea. Although including a new car, but this car has a special characteristic with the old Chevrolet car. Only for this car is a car Chevrolet Orlando from the incorporation of an SUV with a station wagon. This car has a shape that looks sporty appearance and is very strong. Chevrolet just unveiled the Orlando at the Paris Motor Show last week, and it is one of the cars debuted that looks like it could have a future here in Thailand. The Orlando is a 7-seat people mover, crossover, SUV, small 4-wheel drive with no aspirations for off-roading type car. It's actually very similar both in form and function to the Honda Crossroad.
Small Image

Honda don't sell the Crossroad in Thailand because it would compete somewhat with the CR-V. Honda also had a poor run of it with the 7-seat Stream, that eventually bowed out of the Thai market when the Wish clobbered it in what was already quite a small segment of the market.

Back to Chevrolet, and the Orlando, the situation is a little bit different. Chevrolet are enjoying a relatively successful run of it in Thailand.

The Chevrolet brand has a very good image in Thailand, where many Thais I've spoken to seem to believe that American cars are stronger than their Asian counterparts. Whether this reputation is founded or not is another issue, especially considering that the Aveo, Optra and Captiva all have Korean origins, and the Colorado is little more than a re-boxed and badged Isuzu D-Max.

But Chevrolet is doing okay in Thailand. Based on sales volume they are ahead of long-established rivals including Mazda, Mitsubishi and Nissan.

So for Chevrolet Thailand, there might be a bullish feeling that adding a new model to the line might be worth a try. Although the Orlando could possibly step on the toes of the Captiva somewhat, it also has the potential of outshining the Captiva altogether.

Should Chevrolet choose to replace the Optra with the Cruze next year, then the Orlando is even more possible since it is based on the same platform as the Cruze.

Additionally, it is possible that Chevrolet may wish to use Thailand as the production hub for the vehicle, and export to other Asian markets. However, they also have Korea as an option for this, as it has already been confirmed that the Cruze will be produced there.
Engines

Assuming that it is produced here, it is likely that the engine line up will be the same as the Cruze. Possibly up-rated 1.6 and 1.8 litre petrol units like the current Optra.

The engine that I would love to see in the Orlando is the 2.0 litre 150 hp unit from the Captiva, and this is one of the units slated for inclusion in the high end Orlando, but Thai punters could be some way from embracing the diesel in this type of vehicle.
Drive

Chevrolet has a new 6-speed automatic that it is likely to pair up with the new Cruze, but it has yet to be seen if that will make it to Thailand. This would be a really impressive feature in a car in this segment, and if the Cruze gets it, the Orlando will also.

Initially the Orlando will be front-wheel drive, with 4-wheel drive models to be introduced later on. In Thailand, the front-wheel drive variant would be sufficient, and it would allow Chevrolet to put some additional distance between the Captiva and Orlando.
